Halo Wars – Covenant Strategy – Hunter Jackal Rush

This is my first COV video for Halo Wars. This is a Hunter Jackal Rush, its decent. I ran through it 3 times. 2/3 times I won easily however the one time the UNSC just built a bunch of Hornets and killed all my guys.

patrc80 emailed me this strategy. Check out his channel HERE

So the lesson here is that a hornet rush can counter this one….but its still a good rush.

Step 1: Build warehouses (leave 2 spots)
Step 2: Send out ghost to get supplies (farthest first)
Step 3: Build turrets if you want to
Step 4: Build Temple
Step 5: Upgrade warehouses
Step 6: Build hall
Step 7: Start producing Jackals and Hunters in a 2:1 Ratio

2 Jackal Units for every Hunter Unit

Step 8: Charge once you have a decent size group
Step 9: Change Rally Point to enemy base
Step 10: Concentrate fire on key buildings

Again thanks for patrc80 for sharing this strategy with us.

i got a similar rush but it only works against unsc, usually fails against covenant but till, i use cutter for this rush

basically i build this in this orther

    1 barrack 2 supplies

you should have 450 left, use your warthog to look for suplies, once your barrack is done make 4 infantry units, once you get the next 100 make one anti infantry, then just attack, while attacking monitor ur ppl but keep track of ur base by building one suply and then one reactor to upgrade to new blood, then keep adding suplies and making infantry at a 1/1 ratio until you cant make anymore suplies, by now they should either be making anti infantry or warthogs, if they make anti infantry make anti infantry of your own or upgrade ur hogs and keep sending anti infantry and warthogs, if theymake hogs, keep using ur infantry, by the time they make a warthog with upgrades itll be too late for them , works for me atleast 4/5 times, (times failed due to carpet bombs) just scatter ur army around the base to avoid loosing too many units and too avoid missing an unseen turret being made and upgrated, try it :)

Can I just mention a decent, detailed tactic for Deathmatch 2v2?

Okay, first off Deathmatch, especially 2v2 deathmatch is about army sizes. You have 15 population at the start and you gain an additional 10 population every base you occupy. Deathmatch is a purely spamming units match where putting on the pressure is very important (it’s not key, I’ve managed to win from being backed into a corner). Also, if you’re up agaisn’t an arbiter then some extreme juggling comes into play, the arbiter is hard to kill. Very hard. And wipes out your army within seconds. Just keep switching bases and remain one step ahead of the Arbiter, don’t allow the player to use rage mode ANYWHERE near you.

I suggest one player plays as the Prophet of Regret and the other as Cutter or possibly Forge (I always have a partner as Cutter, the ODSTs are great stalling units).

As mentioned above, Cutter is there to stall. Stall as in delay the enemy. He/She gives you time to pump out enough units to finish off the enemy quickly and efficiently.

The Prophet should focus on one STRONG unit for the first 2 minutes, Wraiths are common choices now-a-days but if you want to go in for the kill then locusts are your best bets. If the Prophet goes locusts then the Cutter needs to go either Anti-Vehicle or mainline vehicle. Hell, even hornets. (Vultures are good if the Prophet plays support and Cutter attacks).

    - The point of the first attack is to throw the persons tactics off, apply pressure and let them simmer. If you attack with tanks then they will go anti-vehicle. Keep switching tactics as mentioned below! -

After the first attack, if it doesn’t work (you should have rushed when the message: “powers fully upgraded” popped up) then Cutter is more than likely going to get screwed. Oh, the prophet should of had 4-6 wraiths (2-3 vehicle depots) by which time Cutter should of had about the same in hornets (maybe more) and should have been ready to ODST drop. As soon as the prophet is out, 2 bases should have been taken (1 for either player, courtesy of the Prophet).

Halfway through the attack, go directly opposite tactics from what you’ve just chosen. You should build (both players) 2 vehicles, 2 air (temple for Prophet at start, Cutter should build barracks at start, Spartans straight after. Keep the spartans out of vehicles and pelican drop them to a base during the start of the attack to take away 3 vehicles). Switch to air if you used ground, infantary if you used air and ground if you used infantary. (If you used air then build barracks on the last 2 places).

    - If you’re up agaisn’t good people (I.e. Ridiculous ranking) then on a second base for the Prophet, build 5 Shields and then Warehouses on remaining plots. 5 Shields delay the attacks whilst you either counter attack their bases (my personal choice) or repel the invasion. If all attacks are on you then get your partner to help whilst you counter. -

Just spam units until you win, switching halfway through an attack, reinforcing a minute after attack. (Cutter cant make shields so should be putting Supply Pads down. If Prophet is running low (under 3000) then send some over).

If you play 2v2 deathmatch without a party (usually my choice) then your partner gets rushed and is out, (happens to me nearly every game) leaving you with a 2v1. I usually win 3/4 of 2v1’s agaisn’t me through mixed tactics. One game, I rushed and switched tactics whilst the other player (cutter) did exactly as above. Worked well, destroyed a base. The other player countered (both of them actually!) and Cutter was quickly wiped out, even though Prophet helped. A Scarab, Wraiths and Banshees were pulled together and I stomped around the map, base to base. Putting wraiths at the top left corner of a base, banshees on the right and the scarab at the bottom with the prophet going round clearing individual buildings. One player wiped out and the game turned into a epic 1v1 where me and the other person went clockwise clearing bases, I’d kill one, so would he. Luckily, I won and came out of it with a nice 8000 points for just 20 minutes.

    God, wish I had CaptureCard!

    So:
    Prophet;
    .Temple
    .Vehicle
    .Vehicle
    .Air
    .Air
    .Hall
    .Shield
(My personal choice, feel free to mix and match)
    - Further bases, 5 Shields then 2 Warehouses. IF the attack worked then all warehouses.

    Cutter
    .Air
    .Barracks
    .Air
    .Vehicle
    .Vehicle
    .Supply
    .Supply

(I haven’t played Cutter on Deathmatch in a while but that’s generally what I do. Hornets + Spartans then Cobras + ODSTs then Vultures).
    - Further bases all supply pads. Par the closest one which should have the same layout as the first.

Ty for looking at this long list of BS. (Not really ;])
