The DLC went live today. I downloaded it and thought…gee this is sure is alot of money for what I am getting. I played through and I was right. The DLC is 2MB in size and its just different “modes” in the game. This is the kind of DLC that gives DLC a bad name. We should NOT have to pay to have capture the flag! I am willing to pay for extra levels, extra maps, extra vehicles. EXTRA modes that are built into the game regardless is something that should be free. ANYWAY long story short DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS.
Wait until the Flood DLC comes out and they will give it to us for free!
On to the DLC – this is the Capture The Flag part of the DLC and its fun but only for a little while. I just but out a simple strat for this one and I had to play the computer since I couldn’t find anyone online who had got the DLC. Thankfully there are not that many stupid people out there.
Step 1: Build warthogs and spread them over the map.
REMEMBER – Your not building up an army to fight the otherside. You need to get the flag and geto to safety as quickly as possible
Step 2: Grab the FLAG asap
Step 3: Head to your base
Step 4: Surround the flag with cover for the alloted 2 mins
Step 5: Build an airpad for Hornets ASAP
Step 6: Make the hornets your primary as soon as you can as it is the fastest unit on the map.
Thats pretty much it for Capture the Flag. Sorry about my tone but I just don’t like getting ripped off and Microsoft did indeed rip me off today.

This is how to counter an infantry rush with UNSC while fighting Covenant. Halo Wars has a rock paper scissors approach so the opvious choice if your enemy is doing an infantry rush are vehicles and anti-infantry guns.
Step 1: Build warehouse and get supplies
Step 2: Build Supply Depot and Reactor
Step 3: Recon – Loop around the base and see what you can see – always wait a min or two before doing this so you don’t waste a guy
Now we notice that he already has a prophet AND he built a hall.
Prophet + Hall = Infantry Rush
Step 4: Build 2x Turrets
Step 5: Build field armory and supply depot and reactor
Step 6: Upgrade Turrets to Level 2
Step 7: Produce Warthogs with Chaingun
Step 8: Make ANTI INFANTRY Turrets
The attack usually starts around 5mins or so.
Target the LEADER first because they will go after your turrets. After Leader is dead kill anything else.
Once you have defeated the rush send your forces to the enemy base to attack tactical buildings.
Remember VEHICLES beat INFANTRY so know your paper rock scissor rules with this game!
This Halo Wars Strategy is called the Chieftain-Chopper Rush. Flame10696 commented on a video about this one. This is a quick rush that I personally like better than the Chieftain Brute rush.
Step 1: Build a Temple
Step 2: Gather Resources

This is the Chieftian rush for Halo Wars. This is by far the cheapest rush of them all. I used this online a couple times but it really pissed people off so I tend to just use this rush on the computer.

This rush works best with the UNSC. Cov opponents this is pretty much a stalemate since they will have their leader.
Step 1: Build a temple
Step 2: Send Chopper to get supplies
Step 3: Build 3 WareHouses
Step 4: The SECOND the Chieftian is ready send HIM and the chopper to the enemy base.
Step 5: Set global rally point to teleport
Step 6: Attack opposition, tactical buildings. (Anything that produces units)
Step 7: Keep producing BRUTES when you have enough supplies (repeat until victory)
Thats it. As you can see…very cheap…but VERY effective.
Wraith Rush Is a great strategy for both human and computer alike. The great thing about Wraiths is that they can be produces much quicker than Scorpion tanks.
Step 1: Build a temple
Step 2: Build 3 Warehouses
Step 3: Upgrade Warehouses
Step 4: Build Factory
Step 5: Produce One Wraith Then Heavy Shield Upgrade
Step 6: Keep Building Wraiths
Step 7: Once You Have 3 Attack
Step 8: Set Global Rally Point To Teleport
Step 9: Once You Have About 6-7 Wraiths Build Some Elite Honor Guards For Good Measure
Thats it. This is a very effective strategy against either Cov or UNSC

This is the Ghost Rush for Halo Wars. This is a decent rush. I tried it 3 times against both UNSC and Covenant. I found the Covenant countered it more effectively putting up more of a fight. I put the COV vs COV vid up for this one.
Step 1: Build Temple
(Optional) Step: DONT Build Turrets. They will slow you down and we will have a large army anyway
Step 2: Send Ghost Out For Supplies
Step 3: Build 3 Warehouses (Upgrade Them)
Step 4: Build Factory
Step 5: Send Prophet to destroy rebels on BOTH sides
Step 6: Build Elite and Send To Forerunner Supply Depot
Step 7: Build Base On Other side After Prophet Destroys Them
Step 8: Build Ghosts
Step 9: Once You Have 16 Ghosts and Prophet – CHARGE
Step 10: Set Rally Point To Enemy Base
Step 11: Target Unit Production Structures
Step 8: Keep Building Ghosts
This is a solid rush but is one of the easier ones to counter. Ghosts are very weak so you need alot of them. The prophet is a MUST because of his cleansing beam.
This is the Banshee rush. Similar I suppose to the Hornet Rush that the UNSC can do. Like the hornet rush it works very well.
LordTaoTang did point out however that upgraded ground units BEAT air units…thats why this strategy must have speed.
Step 1: Build warehouses
Step 2: Send Ghost to get supplies
Step 2a: Build 2x Turrets (LordTaoTang didn’t actually recommend this, I do it because I’m paranoid)
Step 3: After 3 warehouses built – build TEMPLE
Step 4: Build Summit – Keep gathering supplies with Ghost and Prophet alike
Step 5: Upgrade ALL warehouses FIRST
Step 6: Start pumping out Banshee’s till you have about 5
Step 7: Send 5 Banshees + Ghost + Prophet to enemy base and attack
Step 8: Move Rally Point to enemy base
Step 9: Target barracks, airpads, anything that can produce units

This is my first COV video for Halo Wars. This is a Hunter Jackal Rush, its decent. I ran through it 3 times. 2/3 times I won easily however the one time the UNSC just built a bunch of Hornets and killed all my guys.

So the lesson here is that a hornet rush can counter this one….but its still a good rush.
Step 1: Build warehouses (leave 2 spots)
Step 2: Send out ghost to get supplies (farthest first)
Step 3: Build turrets if you want to
Step 4: Build Temple
Step 5: Upgrade warehouses
Step 6: Build hall
Step 7: Start producing Jackals and Hunters in a 2:1 Ratio
2 Jackal Units for every Hunter Unit
Step 8: Charge once you have a decent size group
Step 9: Change Rally Point to enemy base
Step 10: Concentrate fire on key buildings
